Currently in the UK, most companies would be severely hampered if it weren't for support workers solving problems with PC's and networks, while advising users on a constant basis. Our country's need for increasing numbers of qualified personnel grows, as human beings become significantly more beholden to PC's in today's environment.

Ask any knowledgeable consultant and they'll regale you with many worrying experiences of how students have been duped by salespeople. Make sure you deal with a skilled professional who digs deep to find out what's appropriate to you - not for their pay-packet! It's very important to locate an ideal starting-point that fits you. With some real-world experience or certification, your starting-point of learning is very different to someone completely new. Always consider starting with some basic Microsoft package and Windows skills first. This can often make the slope up to the higher-levels a less steep.

Many training companies will provide a useful Job Placement Assistance service, to help you into your first commercial role. Because of the massive demand for appropriately skilled people in Great Britain even when times are hard, there isn't a great need to become overly impressed with this service however. It isn't so complicated as you might think to land a job once you're trained and certified.

Help with your CV and interview techniques should be offered (alternatively, check out one of our sites for help). Be sure to you update that dusty old CV immediately - don't leave it till you pass the exams! Quite frequently, you will be offered your initial role whilst still on the course (even in the early stages). If your course details aren't on your CV (and it's not being looked at by employers) then you don't stand a chance! If you'd like to get employment in your home town, then you may well find that an independent and specialised local employment service could work much better for you than the trainer's recruitment division, as they are much more inclined to be familiar with the jobs that are going locally.

Essentially, if you put as much hard work into landing a position as into training, you're not likely to experience problems. Some students strangely put hundreds of hours into their course materials and then call a halt once they've got certified and would appear to think that businesses will just discover them.
